| WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE |
Wed. Jul 21st 2010
During the lunch hours of Wednesday July 21, 2010 the Charleroi Fire District (Charleroi, Lock 4, and Fallowfield) along with RIT 11 (Bentleyville) was dispatched to the 200 Block of Prospect ave for a reported structure fire. Chief 33 was on scene confirming a working fire on the second story of the structure. Eng. 33-3 arrived and made the initial attack on the fire. Eng. 22-1 and Eng. 47 arrived on scene next. Eng. 22-1 crew pulled a 2 inch pre-connect to protect the exposure on the Delta side of the structure, while 47 established a water supply for Eng. 22-1. At. this time Eng. 22-1's master stream was put to use, due to the increasing size of the fire, and potential threat to the neighboring homes. The master stream knocked down the bulk of the fire, allowing the interior crew, access to the fire room, extinguishing the rest of the fire. Additional companies was requested to the scene to assist including 40 (Allenport), 17 (Stockdale), 80 (North Belle Vernon), and 105 (Rostraver Central). Crews had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, but remained on scene preforming salvage and overhaul operations for over 2 hours, while Monongahela had the station fill for Lock 4
